How to make Savoury Pastry


  • 100g / 4oz Butter - Chilled and cut in to pieces
  • 200g / 7oz Plain Flour
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 3 - 4 Tablespoons of Chilled Water



Step 1

Mix together the salt and flour in a mixing bowl and add the butter.

Step 2

Use, either a spoon or fingertips to rub the butter in to the dry mixture until the whole mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

Step 3

Make a well in the centre of the bowl by pushing the breadcrumb mixture around the edges and pour in the water and the beaten egg.

Step 4

Combine the breadcrumbs and the water together using your hands or a wooden spoon.

Step 5

Once your mixture is consistent throughout, wrap the pastry in clingfilm and refridgerate for at least 30 minutes.

Step 6

Roll out your pastry on a floured surface and it is ready to use!
